Permits and License:
Student must be 15 years of age and enrolled in a drivers education
program to test and receive a learners permit. This permit will allow
the student to drive with a licensed driver over the age of 21 who has
been licensed for a minimum of 3 years. The student must hold the
permit for a minimum of 6 months and complete 50 hours of driving, with
10 of those hours being night time driving.
To obtain a provisional license the student must hold the
permit for 6 months, complete a state approved driver education program,
and have logged 50 hours of supervised driving, 10 of which need to be
at night. Once the student has received their provisional license they
will have 2 restrictions unless an adult is present.
-The teen driver may not operate a vehicle between the hours of midnight-5am.
-the teen driver may not have more than 1 passenger in the vehicle under the age of 21 who is not an immediate family member.
EXCEPTIONS are permitted for hours of driving for school, employment,
and religious functions(family and medical emergencies as well)
* FULL LICENSE
A full license will be issued by MVD after having Provisional License for one full year or reaching age 18.
